A city with character
Galway runs on personality, and so should your brand.
Galway is known for its arts and festivals, for its university and its medical-device industry, and as the gateway to the west coast. A Galway business often sells to locals, to visitors and to customers elsewhere at the same time, which asks a lot of a single logo.
A visitor sees your sign once. A local sees it every day. An online customer sees it as a tiny square on a screen. Your logo has to be recognisable in all three.
ELRO designs the logo and every version of it from one approved design, so the sign, the window sticker and the social profile all look like the same business.
What Galway businesses ask of a logo
Made to work on the sign and the screen.
Signs, windows and A-boards
The horizontal and stacked logos cover fascia signs, window vinyl and pavement boards, in light and dark versions.
Gifts, merchandise and stickers
The symbol on its own and a one-colour version suit stickers, stamps, pins and printed bags.
Seasonal and festival trade
A reversed version and a standard version let one brand sit on a dark festival banner and a bright shopfront.
Names in Irish
If your name uses fadas or is in Irish, check that your chosen typeface supports them. The ELRO style guide names the typefaces and fallbacks so you can check before you print.
Medical-device and technology firms
Company websites, product labels and investor decks need a clean, restrained identity with exact colour values.
Partners, clients and committees

The Galway picture
Third in the county rankings, and growing faster than Cork.
Galway recorded 1,145 new companies in 2025, placing third among Irish counties after Dublin and Cork, according to CRIF Vision-net, which builds its figures from Companies Registration Office data. In the first nine months of 2026, new company formations in Galway were up 11 per cent on the same period of 2025, and up 18 per cent in the first half.
Over the same periods Cork grew by 7 and 13 per cent. These figures count companies, so sole traders and partnerships come on top.

How it works
Four steps, wherever you trade.
Tell ELRO your business name and what it does in a sentence, then tap like or dislike on styles. ELRO makes three distinct concepts, you choose one, and your credit includes three rounds of changes. Approve it and ELRO builds the full pack.
It is all online, so it works as well for a shop in the city centre as for a business further out in the county.
Before you register or print
Check the name in both languages.
Search the Companies Registration Office for company names, and search the Intellectual Property Office of Ireland and EUIPO for trade marks. If your name is in Irish, search the Irish and the English forms. ELRO does not provide trademark clearance.
A Local Enterprise Office offers advice and training to new businesses, and is a good place to ask about the practical steps of starting up.
Questions, answered.
Does ELRO design logos for Galway businesses?
Yes. ELRO is an online service, so it works for a business anywhere in Galway city or county. You tap the looks you like and ELRO designs the logo and the files that go with it.
My business name is in Irish. Can ELRO use it?
You enter your business name as you write it. Check that the typefaces in your style guide support fadas before you print, and search for conflicts in the Irish and English forms of the name.
Will the logo work on stickers, stamps and merchandise?
Yes. The pack includes the symbol on its own, one-colour logos and vector files, which suit stickers, stamps and printed bags. Your supplier may prepare its own artwork for some processes.
Is ELRO a design studio in Galway?
No. ELRO is an online service rather than a studio you visit, so there are no meetings to arrange. It works the same anywhere in Ireland.
Does ELRO check that my Galway brand name is free to trademark?
No. ELRO does not provide trademark clearance. Search the company and trade mark registers before you register or rely on your identity commercially.
