Cookie Policy
What we store in your browser, why, and how to change your mind.

1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website puts on your device. Similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels, do the same job. We use them to make the site and app work, to remember your choices, and, with your consent, to measure traffic and behaviour. This policy covers the ELRO website (www.elro.ie) and the ELRO app.
2. What we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| App session cookie | Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in to the ELRO app and protects your session. Set when you sign in. | Your session |
elro-analytics-consent (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we do not ask again each visit. | Until you clear your browser data |
_ga | Analytics (consent) | Google Analytics: tells returning visitors apart so we can count visits and see behaviour over time. | Up to 2 years |
_ga_ followed by an ID | Analytics (consent) | Google Analytics: keeps the state of a visit so pages and actions are linked into one session. | Up to 2 years |
Strictly necessary items do not need consent because the site or app cannot work without them, or they record your choice. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.
3. Analytics
We use Google Analytics on the website and in the app to understand traffic and behaviour: how people arrive, which pages and features they use, and where they leave. It collects usage and device information, such as pages viewed, actions taken, device and browser, and approximate location. We only load it after you accept, and we keep the data for no longer than 14 months. How we handle the data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer of the website. Declining removes the analytics cookies.
4. Controlling cookies
You can accept or decline analytics when asked, and change your mind afterwards in Cookie settings. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though the app’s sign-in will not work without its session cookie. You can stop Google Analytics across sites with Google’s browser opt-out add-on.
5. Changes
We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. We will change the date at the top.
